Facebook Like buttons are everywhere. They are a great tool for sharing interesting information with your “friends”.  They are also a great way to get your blog posts in front of more eyes.  Up until now this ubiquitous button has represented a onetime sharing event. Well not any more.  There is a new Like button on the block and it can help you build lasting, targeted connections with your readers!

Facebook Like for Tags transforms the Like button into an ongoing personalized relationship builder to your users based on tags or categories.

Say for example that someone stopped by this blog and really liked my article about adding a corner peel away ad to a WordPress site so they share the article on Facebook by clicking on the Like button.  This article was assigned to the categories “Interact With Your Visitors” and “The Best WordPress Plugins”.  Now whenever I write another article and assign it to one of those categories every reader that liked the first article will get an update automatically in their Facebook News Feed!

Since the automatic updates are based entirely on the user’s interests, each update will be relevant to them and more likely to attract their attention and trigger a revisit to your website. These additional visits should also increase your reach onto Facebook due to additional sharing.   It has been reported that over time you can see more than a 25% increase in page views.
